Alsid names Jean-Louis Baffier as new Managing Director

Paris, 10 September, 2020 – Cybersecurity software provider Alsid today announces the appointment of Jean-Louis Baffier as its new global Managing Director, overseeing the company’s global operations to continue driving Alsid’s growth and customer success.

Jean-Louis joins Alsid from US search-as-a-service unicorn Algolia, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer as the company tripled its revenue in two years and secured $110m in series C investment. He has previously held senior roles at Microsoft, Salesforce and Oracle.

The news coincides with the relocation of Alsid CEO and co-founder, Emmanuel Gras, and CMO Jérôme Robert, to the United States to continue driving Alsid’s growth stateside. Emmanuel Gras explains: “We’ve already seen impressive traction in North America and we are committed to further developing and investing in this region, so I’m thrilled to relocate there with Jérôme, our CMO, to lead this initiative. As part of our global growth strategy, I’m delighted to welcome Jean-Louis to our executive leadership team. His appointment means that we are going to be in an even stronger position to help enterprises harden and protect their Active Directory to greatly improve their overall security stance.”

Jean-Louis comments: “We have a huge opportunity to continue growing Alsid globally, building on the strong foundations and technical excellence the team has already put in place. I am excited to apply my recent experience working at a fast-growing unicorn to increase our momentum and continue delivering excellence to our customers worldwide. Already I have been particularly impressed by Alsid’s team, its technical capabilities and ambitious plans for expansion, and I’m looking forward to helping the team capitalise on the strong global demand we’re seeing for Active Directory security solutions. Our bold investment in North America, including Emmanuel’s and Jérôme’s relocation, is just one example of our level of ambition.”

Jean-Louis joins Alsid from his previous role as Chief Revenue Office at search-as-a-service US-based unicorn Algolia. He helped drive the company through two years of hypergrowth and global expansion, during which time Algolia’s revenue tripled, and he oversaw a restructuring of the North American business and expansion into the Japanese market. The company’s achievements and strategy were validated by a $110M series C fundraising announced in October 2019.

Previously Jean-Louis worked at Microsoft as General Manager, responsible for developing the $1B/year Enterprise business in France. Before that he spent seven years at Salesforce managing the hyper-growth of the EMEA region. Jean-Louis began his career at Oracle where he worked for 15 years across many different technical and management positions, finally as Pre-Sales Director for Oracle Fusion Middleware, including the security and identity management product lines.

The challenging operating climate caused by COVID-19 has not succeeded in delaying Alsid’s development and release schedules, and the company launched v2.7 of Alsid for Active Directory as planned in July 2020. Engineered as a cloud-based product, Alsid for Active Directory is an agentless solution that doesn’t require any nonsensical privileges over the AD when monitoring and securing Active Directory infrastructures in real-time. It provides users with in-context data that is accurate, useful and relevant to continually adapting and improving AD security.

Founded in France in 2016 by Emmanuel Gras and Luc Delsalle, Alsid has grown quickly after securing €13m in Series A investment in 2019 – a record for a European cybersecurity Series A round.
